The delegation of the Institution visited the Lithuanian Maritime Higher School (LAJM) in Klaipėda, which, like Marijampolė Institution of Higher Education, is undergoing changes: it is joining Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and will become a subdivision of the latter – Lithuanian Maritime Academy.
The representatives of Marijampolė Institution of Higher Education were welcomed by the Director Vaclavas Stankevičius and the Deputy Director for Academic Activities Rima Mickienė, who introduced them to the activities of the higher education institution, the ongoing changes and challenges. The lecturers also presented their activities in a constructive and interesting way.
During the visit, the participants were acquainted with the history of LAJM and the process of studies, the specific features of marine engineering and marine technology studies and advanced training, useful information for finding new ideas for the development of the programmes, the experience in attracting partners to collaborate in research, and the opportunities for further cooperation were discussed. During the tour of LAJM, the representatives of the Institution had the opportunity to take a closer look at the excellent material base of the Higher Education Institution as well as the planned development of infrastructure to improve the training conditions.
We are delighted about the visit to LAJM and the mutual interaction in the process of strengthening the network of institutions, sharing ideas and good practices in the field of higher education and taking firm steps towards change.
