Like every year, Marijampolė Institution of Higher Education participated in Marijampolė City Days. Traditionally, it joined the “Sugar Festival” procession and the opening ceremony and on the second day, in the city’s Basanavičiaus Square, it invited to join the promising changes and to march together on the road to the university studies, discovering the opportunities for studies in MarKo.
On Friday, representatives of Marijampolė Institution of Higher Education, dressed in gowns and carrying the flags of Lithuania, the European Union and the Institution, took part in the festive procession and the opening of the days. The procession included not only students, lecturers, administration representatives, but also visiting and international students studying at the Institution. This large group of members of the Higher Education Institution astonished all the citizens and guests of the city with their togetherness and unity, which was felt during the march.
The next day, in Basanavičiaus Square, the Higher Education Institution’s tent was set up, and the institutions community – the administration, lecturers, students and international students – invited everyone to come and visit. They not only gave advice on study issues, but also invited people to join in various activities: to play the PLINKO game, to take part in the LOTO lottery, to get to know internationality through the activities organised by the international students, and, traditionally, to enjoy some cotton candy. In the activities organised by the Marijampolė STEAM Centre, visitors to the City Days could also discover what is hidden when looking through a microscope, put together a jigsaw puzzle of their choice and master robots.
When participating in city festivals and initiatives, the university is always looking for a unifying idea that reflects what is currently going on in the institution’s activities and studies, both visually and through various activities. It also takes into account the theme of the city’s festivals and important dates. As this year marks the 35th anniversary of Marijampolė reclaiming its name, the Institution invites you to take part in an activity called “Your career path: mark the year you became a graduate!”. Graduates came to mark the year in which they completed their higher education in Marijampolė and the study programme they studied. We were delighted to meet alumni who shared their memories of their studies and talked about returning.
We would like to thank the municipality and the organisers of the city’s events for the great events and the opportunity to participate in them.
