The State Study Fund (hereinafter referred to as the Fund) announces the opening date for applications for state-supported loans for the payment of tuition fees, living expenses, and state-supported loans for part-time studies under international (inter-agency) agreements in the autumn semester – 21 August 2024.
The deadline for applications for the academic year September 2024 (from 8:00 a.m.) and the deadline for applications for the academic year September 18, 2024 (until 3:00 p.m.).
No later than 10 working days after the closing date for applications, the Director of the Foundation shall, taking into account the estimated need for State-aided loans, approve the list of students for whom loan agreements are proposed. The expected date of approval of the lists of students proposed for loan agreements is 2 October 2024.
Students wishing to obtain a State-supported loan must complete the prescribed application form on the Fund’s website and submit it to the Fund in the prescribed manner before 18 September 2024.
In cases where the student has indicated the criteria for priority entitlement to receive a loan or to pay interest from state funds when completing the borrower application, the student or his/her authorised person (the authorisation must be certified by a notary public, the form of the authorisation can be found at: https://vsf.lrv.lt/lt/paslaugos/dokumentu-formos-1) must submit to the Fund, before the end of the deadline for submission of the borrower application, the documents proving the student’s eligibility to meet the criteria (except where the Fund specifies that such documents do not need to be submitted).
The following state-supported loans will be available to Lithuanian higher education students in the spring semester:
– loans to cover the cost of tuition fees. The amount of this loan cannot exceed the student’s tuition fee or part of the tuition fee paid for the current year of study in any one year.
– loans for living expenses. The amount of this loan cannot exceed 80 BSI (basic social allowance) (EUR 4 400) per year of study.
– Loans for partial studies under international (inter-agency) agreements. The amount of this loan may not exceed 60 BSI (basic social allowance) per year of study (EUR 3 300).
Please note that if a student signs an agreement with the bank at the beginning of the academic year to pay the tuition fees for both semesters at once, the bank will transfer the loan to the institution’s account each semester. Once the loan agreement has been signed, the first instalment of the loan, equal to the student’s tuition fee for the autumn semester, will be transferred within 3 working days of the borrower’s request for the transfer of this instalment to the account of the research and study institution.
The instalment for the spring semester shall be disbursed between 1 February and 1 July 2025, when the student submits to the Bank a request for the transfer of the remaining instalment of the tuition fee loan. In the absence of a request, the second instalment of the loan is not disbursed.
