On 9-11 September this year, Eglė Vaičiūnė, a methodologist at the Natural Science Laboratory of the Marijampolė Regional STEAM Open Access Centre, took part in the qualification training “International Globe Programme: experiences, methods, opportunities”.
During the training, under the guidance of Monika Gineitytė, Methodologist of the Ecology and Arts Subdivision of the Lithuanian Agency for Non-formal Education, STEAM Division, the participants were introduced to the International GLOBE Programme, its objectives, importance and opportunities.
During the course of the three days, the participants took part in the theoretical as well as the practical sessions, including observation of the atmospheric phenomena and the processing of data. The training was led by GLOBE trainers from Estonia, Laura Altin and Marie Johanna Univer, who provided useful information on data collection methodologies and their application in practice.
There was also a guided tour of the Žagarė Regional Park Visitors’ Centre, which gave the opportunity to get acquainted with the local environment and to see how environmental observations are carried out in practice.
We are pleased with the curiosity and openness of the STEAM methodologists, which is essential for the delivery of various STEAM education activities for students and trainings for educators at the regional and national level.
